Photo Contest 2009

Hello all,

It’s been a long time since we buzzed each other as a community. I’m glad to see the member count crossing the 100th mark a couple of months back, and today we stay with 150+ members. It’s a moment to cherish. So I’m glad to announce a Photo Contest to celebrate this moment. Since its holiday season, I’m sure there's a great chance for us to find some time to be around our beautiful village 'Sirumugai'.

Subject & Theme
You can shoot anything from people, cattle, landscape, kittens, flowers, emotions.. You name it, but with one condition. It has to have some relevance with 'Sirumugai'. It can be the location from which it’s taken, or the subject relevance to Sirumugai, or somehow tell us how it’s related to the theme 'Sirumugai'.

The photos will be judged based on the following parameters
1. Relation with Sirumugai theme- 40%
2. Creativity - 30%
3. Use of Photography Techniques - 30% (Shutter speed, Aperture, ISO etc)

People in and around Sirumugai, get out and find an interesting place/subject to capture. For others, find an interesting theme to convey a nostalgic story in a frame. For ex: you can show us how much you miss Sirumugai in a photograph.

Equipment
You can use any equipment. DSLR, Point & Shoot, Mobile camera... But, better the results, more the chance to win. We want to see your very best shot. Yes, the idea is to use any device to shoot something you think should be shared with fellow Sirumugaites! If you've never figured out how to take pictures and submit it for a competition, you better get cracking this! Rent, borrow, flick. Have fun!

Editing
If you're a digital photographer good at digital tools, please make sure your editing is limited to image Cropping and basic color correction. Including / excluding objects from another picture or an over-dosage of digital treatment is not accepted.

Eligibility
You need to be a registered member of sirumugai.org with complete details in your profile including the contact numbers and postal address.

Entries
A maximum of two entries will be accepted per person

Submission
Email us your entries to contests@sirumugai.org with Photo Contest 2009 as the subject line.
1. Attach your photograph.
2. Add a title and type a brief description of your photograph and explain how the photo is related to the theme sirumugai.
3. Enter your sirumugai.org profile page URL. For me its http://www.sirumugai.org/profile/BalachandarS. You can visit the 'my page' link in www.sirumugai.org, copy the URL and paste it in the email. Send it to contests@sirumugai.org
No print or film submissions will be accepted for entry into this Contest. In case if you've used a film camera, scan the print and email us.

Deadline
All entries must be submitted and received by October 31, 2009 at 11:59pm IST. Proof of submission is not proof of receipt.

The Prize 5 winning entries will get a T-shirt from us. Yes all the 5 winning entries will get it. There's no runner, winner funda. So there's a great chance for your picture to be a winning entry. The photograph, in its entirety, must be a single work of original material taken by the Contest entrant. By entering the Contest, entrant represents, acknowledges and warrants that the submitted photograph is an original work created solely by the entrant, that the photograph does not infringe on the copyrights, trademarks, moral rights, rights of privacy/publicity or intellectual property rights of any person or entity, and that no other party has any right, title, claim or interest in the photograph.

The judges' decision is final and no correspondence will be entertained.
